
We are currently accepting articles for 4 special issues related to the main themes from the Global Congress on Sport and Christianity. See below for the four topics.
Inclusion Criteria:
- All submissions must be original, unpublished work and engage meaningfully with both Christian theology and the fields of kinesiology, sport, leisure, or embodiment.
- Manuscripts should be between 5,000 and 7,000 words and follow the journal’s style guide.
- All submissions are subject to double-blind peer review.

Identity and Belonging
Submission Deadline: October 1, 2025
This issue explores how movement, performance, and community shape human identity and belonging. We invite contributions that address the complex cultural, relational, and theological dimensions of identity in a changing world.
Possible topics include:
- Generational culture shifts
- Social justice and activism
- Race and ethnicity
- Gender and sexuality
- Body image and performance issues
- Relationships and community formation
- The role of sport and leisure in fostering inclusion
Embodiment and Health
Submission Deadline: October 1, 2025
This issue investigates the holistic integration of physical, mental, and spiritual health from a Christian perspective. We encourage submissions that consider how we understand, steward, and relate to the human body as sacred and significant.
Possible topics include:
- Disability and theology
- Fitness, wellness, and human flourishing
- Technology, AI, and the future of embodiment
- Mental health and resilience
- Sport performance and human potential
- Theological anthropology and bodily meaning
Moral Education and Discipleship
Submission Deadline: October 1, 2025
This issue examines the formation of character and Christian discipleship through sport, play, and embodied practice. How do our movement-based disciplines reflect and shape moral and spiritual values?
Possible topics include:
- Values in sport and competition
- Work, play, and rest as spiritual rhythms
- Evangelism and witness in sport contexts
- Soul training and bodily discipline
- Character and virtue formation through movement
- The role of coaching and mentoring
Culture Building and Institutions
Submission Deadline: October 1, 2025
This issue looks at the structural and cultural forces that shape sport, leisure, and movement across global and local contexts. How do Christian principles inform leadership, sustainability, and institutional engagement?
Possible topics include:
- Sustainability and community development
- Leadership in sport and recreation
- Church and sport partnerships
- Team and culture building
- The sport industry and marketplace ethics
- Pluralism and cultural engagement through movement
